Beavers move to 10-2 for season; Betts throws third no-hitter in game one

BLUFFTON, OHIO – The Bluffton College softball team (10-2) easily beat Heidelberg College (2-10) in both games on Tuesday afternoon, 5-0, 5-1.
Sophomore Sarah Betts (Bryan/Bryan) threw her third no-hitter of the season in the first game of the doubleheader (third no-hitter in four games). In the game, Betts only walked two batters and struck out thirteen. In the second game, Betts walked one and struck out nine batters. After the doubleheader Betts’ improved her record to 9-1 for the season with a 0.32 ERA.
Junior Lane Leedy (Bellville/Clear Fork) posted a double for Bluffton’s only extra base hit in game one. Junior Allison Lange (Archbold/Archbold) smacked down a double for the only extra base hit in game two. The Beavers posted only one error in both games.
Bluffton College will be back in action on Saturday in their HCAC opener at Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana. Game time for the doubleheader is scheduled for noon.
