Against Manchester last Wednesday, MC scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim a 2-1 win. Sophomore Stacy Herr allowed just two runs in 6.1 innings but the Beavers were held to four hits, one of which was a double by senior Heather Thornton.
Bluffton’s current winning streak began in the second game at Manchester as the Beavers scored all their runs in the second inning of a 4-2 win. Junior Emily Kurtz allowed just one earned run in seven innings to pick up her ninth win of the season, while Thornton and freshman Amber Fitzwater both collected two singles and freshman Jamie King tripled.
BC pieced together six singles and Snavely drove in three runs as Bluffton notched a 5-3 win in the first game at Franklin College on Saturday. Herr worked all seven innings to pick up her fourth win of the season as she struck out four batters.
In the second game at Franklin, senior Jessica Spain knocked a triple and two singles and sophomore Missy Neal doubled and singled to lead BC to a 6-4 victory. Kurtz won her tenth game of the season, which ties the third best single-season win total in BC history. Her 2.03 ERA and 29 strikeouts leads the BC pitching staff, while Spain’s .354 average and nine extra base hits is tops in the offensive department.
