Wood, a basketball and softball standout, carries a 3.44 GPA in art and has been accepted to graduate school at Miami University (Ohio) in architecture. She played in 97 basketball games in her career at BC, which ranks third all-time, and her 62 career three-point field goals ranks fourth. She led the team in scoring as a sophomore and helped lead the Beavers to the semi-finals of the Heartland Conference tournament three straight years.
In softball, Wood earned first team All-Heartland Conference honors last season as BC’s third baseman and was a starter on Bluffton’s 1999 HCAC championship squad. Last season she led the team with 18 RBIs and three triples.
Wood was a four-year varsity standout at Wauseon in both sports and was a member of the 1997 Division III state championship team, earning all-tournament team honors.
The Award is named after Kathryn Little, who was the first female physical education instructor at Bluffton College, serving from 1956 through 1973. She was instrumental in creating the women's intercollegiate sports program at BC.
