Roberts named recipient of 2001 A.C. Burcky Award

Bluffton College senior Jeremy Roberts (Bucyrus/Wynford) has been honored with the A.C. Burcky Award, presented annually to the senior male outstanding student-athlete of the year. The award is based on athletic prowess, academic excellence and leadership qualities displayed in the recipient’s four years at Bluffton College.

Roberts carries a 3.3 GPA in business and sport management and was a four-year standout on the BC basketball team. He ranks eighth on the Bluffton all-time scoring list with 1,399 points despite missing the final 15 games of his senior season with a knee injury. He scored in double figures every game as a junior led the HCAC with 20.0 points per game. He led the team with 6.4 rebounds per game that seaso and was a first-team all-league selection. He and led the team with 6.4 rebounds per game. That same season he was named MVP of the McDonald’s of Bluffton Holiday Tournament.

This summer Roberts will doing an internship with the Orlando Miracle of the WNBA.

Roberts was a two-year All-North Central Conference selection at Wynford and received District 6 honors in both basketball and football.

The award is named after A.C. Burcky, who served as teacher, coach and athletic director at Bluffton for more than 40 years. A 1922 BC graduate, he is one of three Bluffton men selected for the NAIA National Hall of Fame.
