On Sunday, March 25, and Monday, March 26, the Bluffton College men’s golf team fought the cold conditions at the Hanover College Invitational and finished ninth out of ten teams in field. Scott Coffman led the Beavers with a 95 in the first round and a 91 in the second to finish with a 186 overall.

Also competing for BC were Andy Bixler, Bob Day, Aaron Barrett and Josh Zechman.

One of the most positive outcomes of the match was “the opportunity and ability to play” said Coach Allen Curtiss. The team only had four days before the invitational to actually be outside and practice due to the weather. Weather also “affected everyone’s performance at the match” according to Coach Curtiss. “I have never seen that many high scores at a match before.”

All the teams present struggled just to keep warm with the temperature starting at only 18 degrees when the event got underway on Sunday.

Coach Curtiss is confident the team will continue to improve as the season continues. “The main thing we are shooting for is the HCAC tournament at the end of the year,” said Coach Curtiss.

The team’s next match is April 6 and 7 at Manchester. BC will play in the University of Findlay Invitational on April 8 and 9 at Sycamore Springs Golf Club in Arlington, Ohio.
