With the 2007 season closing in, the Bluffton University men’s tennis team is hard at work gearing for action. The Beavers return only two members from last year’s squad, but head coach Blake Kindle expects this year’s team to continually improve as the season progresses. “We would like to improve on a daily basis and ultimately better last season’s record,” Kindle said.

Junior captains Blake Babcock (Findlay/Findlay), also a member of the Bluffton University men’s basketball team, and Tim Kauffman (Lilburn Ga./Parkview) come back after playing in the No. 2 and No. 3 slots a year ago. These two veterans will be looked to for experience as they will start the season holding down the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions.

Kindle is looking for talented freshman Luke Roeschley (Chicago, Ill.), and Sean Williams (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) to step right in and provide Bluffton with solid play. The two freshmen will be competing for the other slots open in singles play.

“We want to give our best effort each night in practice and every time we play,” Kindle said. “It is important that we represent Bluffton the best we can.”

The Beavers open play on Saturday, March 17, 2007, when they host a pair of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schools, Alma and Adrian, in a tri-match at Bluffton University.
