Beavers calm Tri-State Thunder for first victory of season

The Beavers picked up their first win of the 2006 campaign, knocking off Tri-State 5-4 on the road. Senior Pete Martin (Berne, Ind./SouthAdams) helped the Bluffton cause with two victories on the afternoon, a 6-1, 6-4 win at fourth singles and a 9-8 (7-5) victory at second doubles with Blake Babcock (Findlay/Findlay). Colin Yoder (Goshen, Ind./Bethany Christian) also picked up a pair of wins against the Thunder. He defeated Sean Matusko in the sixth singles match in three sets, 6-0, 3-6 and 6-4. Yoder teamed with Isaiah Schloneger (Dundee/Central Christian) for the 8-6 win at third doubles to secure the victory for the Beavers. Jordan Zickefoose (Lima/Lima Senior) dominated his match at first singles, 7-5 and 6-2.
