   The
Bluffton College men’s tennis team has opened the year on a strong note by beating Division II University of Findlay and dropping a close match to Capital University. Experience is a big advantage for the Beavers this year as the six-man team is composed of four seniors and two sophomores.

Leading the way for Bluffton early on is senior Kyle Sprunger (Berne, Ind./ South Adam’s), who has not lost a set this year in singles or doubles.  Sprunger plays at No. 4 singles and has won all four sets including a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Capital. The tandem of Sprunger and senior Brad Boyles (Berne, Ind./ South Adam’s) are also undefeated in the No. 2 doubles position. Senior Dan Wott (Clyde/ Saint Mary’s) has an unblemished set record at 4-0 in the No. 3 singles position and has also teamed up with senior Owen Beck (Archbold/ Saint Mary’s) at the No. 1 doubles slot to pick up one victory so far.

The Beavers will be back in action Thursday when they host Transylvania in their Heartland Conference opener. The match is scheduled to start at 4 pm.
