Bluffton loses to undefeated Transylvania

BLUFFTON, OHIO – The Bluffton College men’s tennis team (5-4, 3-2 HCAC) were defeated by a tough Transylvania University team by a final score of 7-2 on Thursday.

Seniors Kyle Sprunger (Berne, Ind./South Adams) and Brad Boyles (Berne, Ind/South Adams) were victorious at the #2 doubles position, which increased their record to 9-0 on the year.  Senior Dan Wott (Fremont/Clyde) picked up the remaining win for the Beavers as he won his #3 singles match 1-6, 6-2, (16-14). 

The Beavers will be back into action Saturday in a Heartland Conference three-way match against Franklin and Manchester.  The match will be played at Manchester and is scheduled to start at 11 am.

No.1 -  Busald (TU) defeated Beck (BC) 6-0, 6-3
No. 2 – Clark (TU) defeated Boyles (BC) 6-1, 6-1
No. 3 –Wott (BC) defeated Pfingston 1-6, 6-2, (16-14)
No. 4 – Atkinson (TU) defeated Sprunger (BC) 6-2, 4-6, (7-10)
No. 5 – Beckett (TU) defeated Martin (BC) 6-3, 6-2
No. 6 - Moore (TU) defeated Nussbaum (BC) 6-1, 6-1
Doubles
No. 1 – Busald and Clark defeated Beck and Wott (BC) 9-7
No. 2 - Boyles and Sprunger (BC) defeated Atkinson and Beckett (TU) 8-3
No. 3 – Pfingston and Miller (TU) defeated Martin and Nussbaum (BC) 8-2
