Beck and Sprunger receive All-HCAC honors

Two members of the Bluffton College men’s tennis team were honored for their performances this season as juniors Owen Beck (Archbold) and Kyle Sprunger (Berne, Ind./South Adams H.S.) were named All-Heartland Conference.

Beck played all season at the #1 singles position and regularly faced the opposing team’s best player. He finished the season with a 6-3 record in HCAC play and 7-6 overall. Beck also earned a victory during the HCAC tournament to finish seventh at #1 singles. He teamed up with junior Dan Wott (Fremont/Clyde H.S.) at the #1 doubles position and finished with a 5-4 record in the HCAC and 7-6 overall, as well as earning a fifth place finish at the HCAC tourney.

Sprunger captured the #4 singles title at the HCAC tournament for the second year in a row. He went a perfect 9-0 in the HCAC and 10-3 overall at the #4 singles position this season. Sprunger and junior Brad Boyles (Berne, Ind./South Adams H.S.) paired up at the #2 doubles position and finished the season with a 6-3 record in the HCAC and 10-3 overall, as well as earning a fourth place finish at the HCAC tournament.
