BC drops close one to Hanover 5-4

The Bluffton College men’s tennis team battled Hanover College this Saturday in Cincinnati but came up just a bit short in a 5-4 loss. The loss puts BC at 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Bluffton got two victories in singles play as junior Dan Wott (Fremont/Clyde H.S.) won at #3 singles (6-1, 6-1) and junior Kyle Sprunger (Berne, Ind./South Adams H.S.) won at #4 singles (6-2, 6-2).

The Beavers also got two victories in doubles play as Wott and junior Owen Beck (Archbold) won at #1 doubles (8-4), while senior Dave Barnes (Groveport/Tree of Life Christian H.S.) and freshman Pete Martin (Berne, Ind./South Adams H.S.) won at #3 doubles (8-6).

#2 - Jacob Houk (HC) defeated Brad Boyles (BC) 6-5, 6-3
#3 - Dan Wott (BC) defeated Mitch Bauer (HC) 6-1, 6-1
#4 - Kyle Sprunger (BC) defeated Jeremy Hughes (HC) 6-2, 6-2
#5 - Matt Moore (HC) defeated Pete Martin (BC) 6-3, 6-3
#6 - Ben Rollins (HC) defeated Dave Barnes (BC) 1-6, 7-6, 6-1

Doubles
#1 - Beck and Wott (BC) defeated Houk and Hughes (HC) 8-4
#2 - Somers and Hunter Rackky (HC) defeated Sprunger and Boyles (BC) 9-7
#3 - Pete Martin and Barnes (BC) defeated Rollins and Mike Cranfill (HC) 8-6
