Kyle Sprunger awarded Bluffton's first-ever men's tennis HCAC player-of-the-week honor

Bluffton College freshman Kyle Sprunger (Berne, Ind./South Adams H.S.) fashioned a perfect 3-0 record in both singles and doubles last week and has been named the men’s tennis player-of-the-week in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Sprunger is Bluffton’s first-ever men’s tennis player-of-the-week recipient in the four years in which the Beavers have competed in the HCAC.

Sprunger won 8-3 at No. 4 singles on Thursday at Tiffin University before moving up to play at No. 3 singles on Saturday against Baldwin-Wallace College and HCAC foe Transylvania University. He defeated his B-W opponent in three sets (2-6, 7-5, 6-3) before notching a win over his Transy opponent in two sets (6-1, 6-0).

In No. 2 doubles action Sprunger and his teammate were winners over Tiffin 8-1 and Baldwin-Wallace 9-7 and claimed a forfeit win over Transylvania.

Bluffton defeated Tiffin 9-0 and Transylvania 7-2, but fell to B-W 5-4. The Beavers are now 2-1 overall on the season and 1-0 in the HCAC.
