Keeler resigns to pursue a doctorate of ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif., with a special emphasis in youth and family ministries. As the teaching faculty member in the area of youth ministries, Keeler sees this educational pursuit as making him more effective in the classroom. Keeler has served as Bluffton’s campus pastor for the past 12 years and will continue in that role.
“We thank Randy for his dedication to Bluffton College and our athletic program,” said Bluffton director of athletics Carlin Carpenter. “We will miss him and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”
A native of Souderton, Pa., Keeler was a four-year letterwinner in soccer at Bluffton from 1976-79 and graduated in 1980. He returned in 1991 as campus pastor and head soccer coach and served two stints as head coach, the first from 1991-1994 and the second from 1997-2002. In 1993 his team tied the school record for wins in a season with nine and his 1993 and 1994 teams combined for 17 wins, which stands as the most wins over a two-year span in school history.
