Bluffton stages comeback at Franklin but falls 3-2

October 15, 2001

An impressive comeback was almost enough to give the Bluffton College men’s soccer team their first Heartland Conference win of the season on Saturday, but Franklin College hung on to take a 3-2 win from the Beavers in Indiana.

Two goals by Franklin in the first half an early goal in the second half put the hosts up 3-0, but at that point Bluffton took the game over and nearly pulled out the come from behind victory.

Casper Agyemen-Duah put Bluffton on the board with a goal off an assist from Jon Lindow to bring the score to 3-1. Later, Mark Stutzman found the net for a goal off an assist from Eric Stutzman to bring the deficit to just one at 3-2, which is where the final score would stand.

Agyemen-Duah and Diego Rodriguez share the team lead in goals with four each, while Luke Archer’s three assists are most on the team. Rodriguez scored Bluffton’s goal in a 6-1 loss to Anderson last Wednesday. Derek Stemen’s 177 saves lead the team and ranks second in the HCAC.

Bluffton will host Defiance on Tuesday at 3:30 in the Sears Athletic Complex.
