Beavers place second in 2004 HCAC Tournament

The men’s golf team finished their sunset outing by placing second (628 team total) in the HCAC golf tournament at Honeywell Golf Club. Bluffton finished behind first place Franklin College who shot a 597.

The Beavers were led by Scott Bergman (Elmore/Woodmore) who shot a 78 and 77 for a total of 155 (8th tied overall). The sophomore earned all-conference honors for the eighth place finish. Junior Rick Pagniano (Wooster/Northwestern) shot a 156 to tie for 10th place overall.

Bluffton set a new school record for a two-day tournament. It was the Beavers team best in both the single and double rounds also.

“We had a great year to end the program. The men are a group of guys who worked extremely hard and were praised by every coach in the conference,” head coach Allen Curtiss said. “They represented Bluffton College in the highest manner that could be done.”

Freshman Matt Keeler (161), senior Trevor Thomas (162) and sophomore Nick Schreck (164) finished off the scoring for the Beavers.

Bluffton finished the regular season with a 32-26-1 overall dual record. The tournament was the final contest for the Bluffton men’s golf program.
