The Bluffton College men’s golf team opened up its season this past week by playing in two invitationals. The Beavers got their season underway on Thursday when they participated at the Urbana University Early Bird Invitational. Bluffton placed third at the event with a final score of 319.
BC also played in the Oilers Spring Invitational at the University of Findlay on Saturday. Bluffton placed thirteenth out of fourteen teams but was the only Division III school participating in the event.
Freshman Scott Bergman (Elmore/Woodmore H.S.) shot well this week as he led the Beavers with a score of 75 at Urbana and a two-round score of 162 at Findlay.
Bluffton’s next match will be this Friday, April 11 at Urbana University.
April 3: Early Bird Invitational
Bluffton placed third out of seven teams with a final score of 319.
Bluffton was led by Bergman with a score of 75, junior Trevor Thomas (Jamestown/Greenview H.S.) with a 75, and sophomore Rick Pagniano (Wooster/Northwestern) with an 81. Rounding out the scores was freshman Nick Schreck (Galion) with an 88, freshman David Sekki (Painesville/Harvey H.S.) with an 89, junior Clint Dillon (Bucyrus) with a 90, junior Dan Larimore (Elida) with a 98, junior Ryan Imke (Findlay) with a 104, and senior Jeff Vincent (Millbury/Roy C. Start H.S.) with a 107.
April 5: Oilers Spring Invitational
Bluffton finished thirteenth out of fourteen teams with a final score of 680.
Bergman led the squad with a two-round score of 162, which was followed by Pagniano with a 170 and Thomas with a 172. Schreck finished with a 176 while Sekki shot a 187.
