BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Barons from OSU-Lima fell to Wright State-Lake by a score of 74-63 in the consolation game of the 11th annual McDonald’s of Bluffton Holiday Tournament. The Barons struggled to keep up with a Laker team that was quick to push the ball up and down the court. The Lakers improved to 7-5 on the season while OSU-Lima fell to 0-18 overall.
Wright State-Lake was led in scoring by Chad Miller who contributed 26 points for the Lakers. He also snatched a team-high six steals. Joining Miller in double figures were teammates Jordan Winner who scored 21 points, and Brooks Topps contributing 13 for his team. Winner, who was named to the All-Tournament team, blocked six shots to lead all players and he also pulled down 11 rebounds. Topp had six out of the team’s 17 assists and he ripped down 12 boards for a double-double.
Barons guard Blake Floyd played all forty minutes in the game, leading OSU-Lima in scoring with 21 points. For his efforts, Floyd earned All-Tournament honors. Ryan Schroeder owned the glass for the Barons, as he grabbed 12 rebounds with 11 coming on the defensive end. He tallied 18 markers, 16 of which came in the first half. Dusty Williams also hit for double-digits, pouring in 16 points.
Wright State made 30-of-81 from the field for 37.0 percent shooting, while the Barons went 22-of-58 for 37.9 percent. It was a different story from the free throw line, however, as Wright State converted on 11-of-15 for the game, and OSU-Lima made 14-of-17 foul shots. The Barons continually hurt themselves with turnovers, committing 27 for the game while the Lakers finished with 12 miscues.
