BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recently announced the winter honorees of the HCAC All-Academic awards for the 2007-08 school year. Five Bluffton University basketball players were recognized for their efforts in the classroom. Sophomores Jordan Pothast (Ottawa/Ottawa-Glandorf) and Zack Kraus (Findlay/Findlay) along with junior captain Justin Rufenacht (Wauseon/Pettisville) were the men’s basketball players to be named HCAC Academic All-Conference. Sophomores Stephanie Jankov (Wooster/Wooster) and Vicki Auer (Cincinnati/Roger Bacon) were the two honorees from the Bluffton University women’s basketball team.
To be named Academic All-HCAC, a student-athlete must have completed a full year at the institution, be a varsity athlete and carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 through the semester preceding the end of the season.
The Beavers led the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference with five basketball players who earned Academic All-HCAC honors.
