Sweet named HCAC player-of-the-week

Sweet honored for his efforts in final week of season

BLUFFTON, Ohio – Junior Eric Sweet (Ottawa/Ottawa-Glandorf) was named the Heartland Conference’s men’s basketball player-of-the-week for the week ending Feb. 20.

Junior Eric SweetSweet helped the men’s basketball team (13-12, 6-8 HCAC) defeat longtime rival Defiance College 89-66 last Wednesday. Sweet posted 30 points (career high), 19 rebounds (career high), two blocks and an assist. In last Saturday’s 83-81 overtime loss against Manchester, Sweet threw in 15 points, five rebounds, one assist and a blocked shot.

For the season he averages 11.9 points per game (14th in HCAC) and 6.1 rebounds per game (seventh in HCAC).

Bluffton University will play in the Heartland Conference men’s basketball tournament this Tuesday, Feb. 22. The No. 5 seed Beavers will travel to No. 4 seed Manchester College. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
