Denison University defeats Grove City College 83-80

The Denison University men’s basketball team defeated Grove City College in the consolation game of the McDonald’s Holiday Tournament, 83-80.
Denison was sparked by 28 point and 10 rebound effort by junior Robb Hern. Sophomore Dan Hodgkinson scored 14 points and contributed seven rebounds. Sophomore Dan Izzo rounded out double digit scoring with 12 points and also added six rebounds. Leading Grove City was Senior J.D. Collar with 23 points. Junior Matt Phillips added 18 points and Senior Phil Buschre finished with 13.
Denison shot 53 percent from the field including 11 three-point buckets. Grove City shot 47 percent, connecting on 14 of 15 free throws. Trailing at halftime 43-34 Denison scored 49 points to Grove Cities 37 points, in the second half to seal the win.
