Beavers place two to All-Heartland Conference teams

Senior Brad Boyles (Berne, Ind./South Adams) and sophomore Scott Bergman (Elmore/Woodmore) have been selected to the All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference team for their efforts in the 2003-04 men’s basketball season. Boyles was selected first-team all conference with Bergman earning honorable mention all conference.

Boyles finished the season averaging 15.2 points per game (395 total points). He ranked fourth in the league in scoring and finished second in the conference in field goal percentage at .582 percent (ranked 26th in Division III). He led the team 14 times this season with the most points scored during a game. From the charity line he shot .758 percent (97-128) which placed him at tenth in the conference. Boyles scored 395 points this season and 804 total career points as a Beaver. His 804 total points places him at 33rd in the all-time leading scorer’s list at Bluffton.

 

Scott BergmanBergman ended the season as the second leading scorer on the team behind Boyles, averaging 13.0 points per game (338 total points). He finished the year ranked ninth in the HCAC in scoring. Bergman averaged 4.7 rebounds per game which was second for the Beavers and 14th overall in the HCAC. He led the team in 3-point field goals for the season with 46 overall which was good enough for seventh in the league.

 

Bluffton College finished the 2003-04 season with a 10-16, 4-10 HCAC record. The Beavers lost to Franklin College 72-59 in the first round of the conference tournament to finish the season.
