Bluffton falls to North Central (Minn.) in tip-off tournament consolation game

Bluffton College led 33-30 at halftime but saw North Central University (Minn.) come back to take a 63-60 win over the Beavers Saturday afternoon in the consolation game of the North Central College (Ill.) Tip-off Tournament.

Bluffton out-rebounded NCU 40-34 and grabbed 20 offensive rebounds, but was held to a 37.3% shooting clip from the field, including a 3-for-15 effort from 3-point range.

Senior Mike Leimeister was named to the All-Tournament Team as he scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds in Saturday’s game to finish the two-day tournament with 41 points and 17 rebounds.

Senior Derek DeNero collected a game-high 19 points and four steals against NCU and added six rebounds, while senior Marcus Bixler had a career-high seven steals. Sophomore Bryce Beilharz scored a career-high eight points.

Bluffton will travel to Earlham College Tuesday night before returning home for the Comfort Inn/Taco Bell Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament in Founders Hall November 29 and 30.
