All five Ohio Dominican starters scored in double figures as the Panthers advanced to the championship game of the Fourth Annual McDonald's of Bluffton Holiday Tournament with a 90-74 victory over Millikin University in Founders Hall Friday night.
Ohio Dominican (8-5) will take on Bridgewater (6-2) on Saturday afternoon at 3:00, while Millikin (4-5) will battle Bluffton (5-6) in the consolation game at 1:00.
There were 21 ties or lead changes in the first half, but a 6-2 ODC run before intermission gave the Panthers a 36-33 lead at halftime. That lead grew to 11 points after the first five minutes of the second half and Millikin was unable to put together a run to get any closer than eight points down the stretch.
ODC was 30-43 from the free throw line in the game, both numbers setting new McDonald's tournament records, and was led by Mike Lee, who was 10-11 from the charity stripe on his way to a game-high 19 points. Ryan Wilson added 16 points and Jeremy Renner collected a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. His rebounding total ties the second-best total in tourney history.
Millikin turned the ball over just 10 times, but a 38% shooting clip from the floor was too much to overcome as ODC grabbed 48 rebounds, 33 of which were off of MU missed shots.
Kin Yanders led Millikin with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Jason Fisher, Jeff Love and Trey Evans all scored 11 points.
