A tough full-court Mount St. Joseph defense forced 21 Bluffton turnovers, leading to a 66-55 win over the Beavers in Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon.

There were nine ties or lead changes in the first 10 minutes of the game, but Mount St. Joseph went on a 17-4 run in the final four minutes of the first half to take a 38-21 lead at the intermission.

A 12-4 run by the Beavers midway through the second half closed the gap to 10 points with 8:07 left to play, but it would be as close as BC would get.

After starting the season 0-5, the Mount has now won two straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference games. The Lions are 2-5 overall and 2-2 in the HCAC, while Bluffton is now 2-5 overall and 0-3 in league play.

Senior Rod Overmyer led Bluffton with 13 points, while junior Derek DeNero scored 10 points (all coming in the second half) and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Junior Mike Leimeister added 11 points.

Bluffton will return to action on Saturday, December 15 at Denison University. Gametime is set for 3:00 and will be broadcast on 107.1 FM WDOH.
