Janice Bruner was described by her coach, Kim Fischer, as “one of the best pure shooters among women’s basketball players at Bluffton.” A two sport standout in volleyball and basketball, she scored the most points (1,113), had the most field goals (497), and most field goals attempted (1,135) during her time.
In 1985-86 she set the season mark for field goals made (165) as she earned first team Western Buckeye Collegiate Conference honors. The previous year she was second team All WBCC and honorable mention All District. She led the team in scoring her last two years and was top in six categories as a senior. An outside hitter on the volleyball team, she led the spikers in service aces in 1985.
Bruner has been a social studies teacher at Hilltop High School in the Millcreek West Unity school system. She is working on her master’s degree at Bowling Green State University.
