Cheryl Bareiter

Cheryl Bareiter was a four year letter winner in volleyball, basketball and softball earning the Kathryn Little Award as the outstanding senior athlete in 1983.

Cheryl was second team all WBCC in volleyball in 1982, leading the team in hitting percentage. In basketball she shares the single game scoring mark (33) and second in the game mark for steals (she twice had eight).

On the basketball court, she is one of the Bluffton women to score 1,000 points. She led the team in scoring three years. She was second team All WBCC and honorable mention All District in 1983.

An elementary education major at Bluffton, she has a master’s in outdoor education from the University of Akron ’94. She taught and coached 10 years at Pandora-Gilboa before moving to Wadsworth City Schools. At Pandora-Gilboa she was two time coach of the year in basketball, coaching the first Rocket team in any sport to reach the regional tournament.

Bareiter previously was selected for both the Wadsworth and Medina Country Halls of Fame. She is active at Wadsworth First Mennonite Church.
