The 1981-82 women's basketball team had the best percentage in women’s history, thus far, with a 15-5 record. Unfortunately, the team was not in a league at that time and there is no record of post-season individual honors.
Coach Fischer’s team holds school marks for percentage (.750), points per game (77.0), winning margin (11.5), field goal percentage (.445) and season winning streak (6).
Cheryl Althaus, a member of the Athletics Hall of Fame, led the team in scoring, Venessa Beach in rebounding, Tina Verhoff in field goal percentage and assists and Amy White in steals. Althaus and Verhoff are near the top of the list for career scoring and Verhoff is near the top in career rebounding. Others from that team among the top career scoring leaders are Sindelar, Brown, Beach and White.
In post season action the team defeated Denison and lost to Wooster.
