Rob Sheldon

1973 graduate Rob Sheldon was a two-year letter winner in both basketball and baseball. He played basketball for four years and baseball for two years. Sheldon was inducted into the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in Rob Sheldon2005 as part of the OHSBCA’s 19th class.

Sheldon, who earned his bachelor’s degree in Education, continued his education  at Bowling Green State University where he graduated with a master’s degree in Administration in 1977.

Following stints at Ottawa-Glandorf and North Central, Rob moved his family to Bucyrus and he took over as the head basketball coach, a position he held for 24 years. In addition to coaching, Sheldon served and continues to serve as the assistant principal and athletics director at Wynford High School.

Sheldon led his teams to nine league championships, 18 Sectional championships, seven District championships, two Regional championships and a State runner-up finish in 1988 while compiling a 401-156 record at Bucyrus Wynford as the head coach. While at Bucyrus, Sheldon has coached in the North-South game, the Ohio-Michigan game and the Wendy’s Classic. He received the Paul Walker Award, named after the legendary Middletown coach, following his final season at Wynford on March 24, 2003.

Sheldon and his wife Brenda live in Bucyrus and they have six sons, Josh, David, Chris, Michael, Robbie and Todd.
