Bluffton places sixth Heartland Conference football coaches poll

BLUFFTON, OHIO – The Bluffton University football has been selected as sixth in the preseason Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference poll released on Friday.
Bluffton calculated a 2-8 overall record, 0-6 HCAC in 2003 under first-year head coach Greg Brooks. The Beavers return 15 starters (8 offense, 7 defense) to the field as they look to improve on last season’s record.
Two-time defending HCAC champion Hanover College was picked to finish first in the league. Mount St. Joseph was picked second, Anderson University third, Defiance College and Franklin College tied for fourth, Bluffton University was picked sixth with Manchester College placing seventh.
“Being in sixth place provides us with the opportunity to move up in conference action,” head coach Greg Brooks said.
Bluffton University will open the 2004 season on September 4 when they host Centre College in Dwight Salzman stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
