The Bluffton College men's soccer team saw their 2000 season come to a close last Saturday with a 2-0 loss at home against Hanover College. The Beavers ended the year with a 4-13-1 overall record and a 1-4 mark in the Heartland Conference.

The Beavers ended their 2000 season with a three game home stand that produced a 1-1-1 record that included a 3-1 win over Taylor/Ft. Wayne and a 1-1 tie against Thiel. The 2000 Beavers embarked on this season with a fairly young team including only one senior. As the year went on the Beavers were able to get the ball rolling winning two out of their last five games, including a conference win at Defiance. Many young players saw significant playing time giving them valuable experience for next season.

This years men's soccer team was led by freshman Diego Rodriguez who scored eight goals and totaled 18 points for the Beavers. Diego finished 8th in the HCAC in scoring and 5th in goals scored. Junior Mark Stutzman finished 8th in the HCAC with his team leading four assists. Stutzman also provided four goals for the Beavers making him the second leading scorer for BC with 12 points. Freshman Derek Stemen's 74 saves ranked him 4th in saves in the HCAC.

Bluffton's men soccer team will look to build from the 2000 season. Bluffton will be returning 21 players next year including 13 upper classmen.
