CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Bluffton University cross country teams traveled to Cedarville University for the 19th annual Friendship Invitational on Saturday, September 19, 2009.
Heather Smith (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) led the women’s squad with a time of 21:40 which was good for 93rd place. Alison Janzen (Whitewater, KS/Remington) finished in 115th place with a time of 22:19. Bluffton’s three other harriers were Katy Heffner (Troy) with a time of 22:27, Kaitlyn Kelly (Middlefield/Cardinal), putting in a time of 22:28, and Sarah Binkley (Bluffton/Cory-Rawson) who crossed the line in 23:25.
On the men’s side, Andy Chaffee (Clarkston, Mich.) put together Bluffton’s top time with a run of 28:26, good for 73rd place. Second for Bluffton was Ben Siebert (Celina) who turned in a time of 31:55. Three other Bluffton men participated, including Jeremy Kidder (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) who finished in 34:39, Robert Hooley (Bluffton) in 34:27 and Kevin Hickman (Centerburg)with a time of 34:55.
Bluffton will host the Beaver Invitational on Friday, September 25, 2009, at 5 p.m.
