Beavers compete well at All-Ohio Championships

The Bluffton University Men’s and Women’s cross country team competed at the All-Ohio Championships this past weekend. The All-Ohio Championship meet involves only Ohio colleges/universities from NCAA Division I, II, III, and the NAIA. The men finished in 14th place (DIII) and in 33rd place overall. The Women finished in 15th place in Division III and 34th place overall.
Leading the men on the day was Sophomore Dave Espinoza (Toledo/Whitmer) with a 43 place finish and a time of 28:56. Being rewarded for his efforts Espinoza was named the Heartland Conference player-of-the-week for men’s cross country.
Finishing in 69th place was Junior Dan Rosebrock with a time of 23:57. Third for the Beavers was Freshman Hillary Shilasio in 85 place with a time of 24:24. Senior Andy Schiefer placed in 91 with a time of 24:33. Placing 103 with a time of 25:46 was Sophomore Johnny Ichrist. Rounding out the squad for Bluffton was Freshman Tyler Fairchild with a 114 place finish in a time of 26:33.
Shinning once again on the women’s side was Freshman Sarah Humphrey (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky). Humphrey placed 45 over all with a time of 20:50. For her efforts on the weekend and for the second time this season Humphrey was named Heartland Conference player-of-the-week for women’s cross country.
Placing 81st with a time of 22:13 was junior Lauren Borga. Coming in 95th was junior Jennifer Creamer with a time of 23:10. Lindsay Bryant finished in 107 place with a time of 24:23. Sophomore Lauren Bailey ran a 110 place time of 24:44. Alicia Stanko finished the race in 115 place with a time of 25:58.
The Beavers will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to the Ohio Northern Invitational.
