The women’s team just edged out season rival Tiffin University for 11th place overall, and the men finished 12th.

For the women, senior Ben Noll stepped it up for the Beavers, finishing in 21:16, a new personal record. Her time earned her 65th place out of 151 total runners. Next for Bluffton was freshman Maryanne Morgan who ran 21:43 and finished 73rd. Also scoring for the Beavers were Kristen Stager 21:46/77th), Katie Gwirtz (21:54/84th), and Jennifer Niedermier (22:00/86th).

On the men’s side, junior Steve Borga took the reigns at the beginning of the race and held on tight as he lower his best season time. Borga finished the race in a 29:11, earning him 75th place out of 119 total runners. Behind Steve came freshman Mitch Stacy who ran the 8000m in 29:55 and placing 79th. Also scoring were Jeremy Olson (30:09/83rd), Roy Kaplan (30.15/85th), and Chris White (30:48/87th).

“I was forced to sit out a couple of my top runners on both the women’s and the men’s side,” said head coach Derek Stanley. “I don’t know how much difference it would have made today, the competition was very good here. However, it seems to be a fast course and the kids like it, so we’ll probably continue to return.”

Bluffton’s next meet is at the All-Ohio Championships on Friday, October 5 on the Dornoch Golf Course just off of St. Rt. 23 in Delaware, Ohio.
