McPherson joins Lake Erie Monarchs

Bluffton senior Cody McPherson joins Lake Erie Monarchs of GLSCL

July 7, 2009

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University hurler Cody McPherson (Northwood/Millbury Lake) recently joined the Lake Erie Monarchs of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. The GLSCL is one of the premier collegiate summer baseball leagues in the country, providing many Division I athletes with the opportunity to perform in front of major league scouts on a regular basis.

"Cody has worked hard to give himself the opportunity to play for Lake Erie. It will be a great experience for Cody who is the second Bluffton baseball player in three years to pitch in the GLSCL," stated Coach James Grandey. Matt Perkins saw action with the Anderson Servants in 2007. "In addition to the individual experience that playing for the Monarchs will afford Cody, it shows that we are continuing to recruit high-caliber baseball players to our program at Bluffton University."

McPherson saw his first action for Lake Erie on Wednesday, July 1, in front of the hometown fans at Ned Skeldon Field. The Monarchs bolted to an 8-0 lead over the Xenia Scouts before six Lake Erie errors kept the outcome in doubt. McPherson worked the final three innings as the Monarchs came away with a 13-8 victory.
