BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Bluffton University baseball team (5-17) was defeated 2-0 by Earlham College (5-16) on April 12.
The score was tied at zero heading into the top of the ninth inning when the Quakers used errors by the Bluffton infield to go up 2-0. The Beavers gave it a good shot in the bottom of the ninth, but could not come away with a run. The final would see Earlham win the game 2-0.
Leading Bluffton offensively for the contest was senior Jason Moore (Elida/Elida) who went 2-for-3 at the plate. Five other players posted one hit each for the Beavers. Junior Aaron Krieger (Ida, Mich./Ida) received the loss on the mound to take his record to 0-4. Krieger pitched four innings as he struck out one, gave up one hit and walked one batter.
Bluffton University will be back in action on April 15-16 for their HCAC series vs. rival Defiance College. Friday night’s game will be played at Defiance College. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m. The team will then host the doubleheader on Saturday at Sears Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12 noon.
