Baseball team falls to Wilmington in non-conference action

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Bluffton University baseball team (4-16, 1-5 HCAC) was defeated 21-7 on the road by Wilmington College (5-6) on April 5.

Leading the Beavers in the outing was junior Riordan McClain (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sanduksy) who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI at the plate. Junior Tony Gerig (West Unity/Hilltop) went 2-for-3 with a double, one run scored and two RBI’s. Freshman Tony Moore (Elida/Elida) posted a lone hit with two runs and one RBI.

Freshman Brandon Freytag (Wapakoneta/Wapakoneta) received the loss on the mound to take his record to 0-1 for the season.

The Beavers will be back in action on April 8 and 9 at home against Franklin College. The HCAC series is scheduled for 4 p.m. on April 8 with the doubleheader starting at 12 noon on April 9.
