Baseball drops Gene Cusic Classic finale

FT. MYERS, Fla. – The Bluffton University baseball team (2-7) lost their final Gene Cusic Classic game to Ohio Wesleyan (8-0) 10-9 on March 12.
The Beavers were led offensively by freshman Kyle White (Berne, Ind./South Adams) who posted four hits and four RBI’s in the game. Senior Ryan Fiely (Greenville/Greenville) connected on three hits with senior Jason Moore (Elida/Elida) knocking out two hits and three RBI’s. Fiely closed the game for Bluffton and picked up the loss on the mound.
Bluffton found themselves down 6-0 early in the ball game only to rally back in the bottom of the eighth to take the lead 8-7. The Battling Bishops came back in the top of the ninth to score three runs and take back the game 10-8. The Beavers scored one more run in the bottom of the ninth (10-9), but could not regain the lead for the final.
Bluffton led the game in hits with 16 compared to Ohio Wesleyan’s 15.
