Alberson broke the career RBI record by hitting a three-run homer in the game to take his career total to 107 RBI’s. He also broke the career total base record by reaching the base three times last night, taking his career total to 251. The two former records were held by Matt Henderson who played for the Beavers from 1987-90.
“Kyle is an outstanding hitter. He struggled early, but worked hard and is starting to see the ball well,” head coach James Grandey said. “Kyle’s breaking the career records show his consistency as a hitter over the past four years.”
Alberson already owns the career homerun record (31) and the season homerun record by belting out ten last year. He has been selected as All-Heartland Conference the past two years. For the season Alberson leads the Beavers in runs (16), doubles (7), RBI’s (24), total bases (51), homeruns (7) and slugging percentage (.718). He currently posts a .324 batting average with 23 hits on the season.
