Beavers drop HCAC series to Mount St. Joseph

BLUFFTON, OHIO - The Bluffton College baseball team (7-22, 2-10 HCAC) lost all three games in the HCAC series to the College of Mount St. Joseph (15-14, 7-5 HCAC) this weekend.
In Friday’s game the Beavers lost by a final score of 26-15. Senior Bob Heitkamp (Ft. Recovery/Ft. Recovery) collected two doubles and four of Bluffton’s 20 hits in the game. Kyle Alberson, Luke Clouse, and Josh Underwood also doubled for the Beavers. Sophomore Randy Miller (Willard/Willard) suffered the loss on the mound.
Game two in the series was more of a defensive contest as Bluffton was defeated by a final score of 3-2. Heitkamp swung a hot bat in this contest as well as he belted his second home run of the season. Senior Scott VanEman (Elida/Elida) went 3-3 in the contest with a double. Alberson also posted two hits (1 double) for the Beavers. Senior Josh Underwood (Bluffton/Cory-Rawson) was the losing pitcher despite only giving up three runs in a complete game effort.
In the final game of the series Bluffton got nine runs on 16 hits, but fell short by a score of 17-9. Heitkamp scored three times in the game and also smacked his second home run on the day. VanEman and senior Ryan Fiely (Greenville/Greenville Sr.) each had two hits. Senior Ryan Whitaker (Hicksville/Hicksville) picked up the loss for the Beavers.
Bluffton will be back in action on Wednesday when they host
