BLUFFTON, OHIO – The Bluffton College baseball team (3-8) split a double-header with Otterbein College Saturday at Sears Field.  The Beavers won the first game 2-1 and dropped the second 10-1.

The first game was a pitching dual between Bluffton’s Josh Underwood (Bluffton/ Cory-Rawson) and Otterbein’s Robert Benjamin.  Underwood lasted all seven innings, striking out two, allowing only one run on five hits to pick up his second win of the young season.  Underwood also helped out his cause at the plate with a double and a run scored.  Junior Brad Moore (Fredericktown/ Fredericktown) chipped in an RBI single in the fourth.  Two runs were all Underwood needed to notch the victory for the Beavers.

The Beavers fell in the second game, 10-1. Otterbein pitcher Adam Brandt proved too much for the Bluffton as he went 6 2/3 innings, striking out 10 batters.  Bluffton was only able to muster three hits in the game with one of the two coming from senior Scott Van Eman (Elida/ Elida) who is currently riding a nine game hitting streak.

Bluffton will be back in action on Saturday March 20, when they travel to Muskingum College for a double-header. Their next home game is scheduled for March 24 against Wilmington at 3 pm.
