Baseball loses opener in extra innings

SARASOTA, FL. – The Bluffton College baseball team (0-1) dropped their first contest of the season 7-5 to Southern Virginia on Monday afternoon.Beaver Baseball

 

The Beavers were down 3-0 early in the ball game, but rallied back to only find the game tied 5-5 going into the bottom of the seventh. The game went into the eighth when Southern Virginia knocked out a two-run homer to take the opening contest, 7-5.

 

Senior Josh Underwood (Bluffton/Cory-Rawson) bolted a three-run homer out of the park to help the Beavers effort. Kyle Alberson (Berne, Ind./South Adams) knocked down a double for the game.

 

Bluffton will be back in action on Wednesday against Goshen College for a doubleheader. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
