Zach Arend

Zach ArendZachary H. Arend age 18 died 6 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2007, at Grady Memorial Hospital Atlanta, Ga. as the result of his injuries from the Bluffton University bus crash on March 2, 2007.

He was born April 30, 1988, in Paulding County the son of Dana L. and Caroline A. (Miller) Arend. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulding. He was a student at Bluffton University where he was a pitcher for the baseball team; a 2006 graduate of Paulding High School where he participated in varsity baseball, football and basketball. He was also a member of Ottawa Legion Post 63 baseball team.

Surviving are his parents Dana L and Caroline A. Arend; three sisters: Estee, Oliva and Allison Arend, all of Oakwood; grandparents, Eugene and Ann (Kohart) Miller, Oakwood; special friend, Rachelle Farley, Paulding, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Herman and Eloise (DeLong) Arend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, March 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulding, with Reverend G. Allan Fillman officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery, Charloe.

Visitation will be 3:30 – 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 14; and 1 – 9 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding.

In lieu of flowers, throws/afghans, statuary, etc. the Zachary Arend family requests that all donations be made to the Zachary Arend Scholarship Fund or masses only.
