What excites you the most about teaching psychology?
Interacting with students. I also enjoy the creative aspect of it, especially the things that aren't inherently interesting.
When did you first know that you wanted to teach psychology?
Grad school. I came from a long line of teachers so I always pictured myself doing research.
What is your favorite class to teach and why?
Intro to Psychology because it's an overview of all the really cool things in psychology.
Why do you like Bluffton?
It feels like you're in the middle of the woods and the buildings look historic.
When you are not teaching, what do you enjoy doing?
I really enjoy the outdoors because I moved here from Colorado. I enjoy hiking, camping, walking my boxer dog and spending time with my husband and daughter..
What was the first job you ever had?
I was a receptionist at a hair salon. I answered the phone and scheduled appointments.
Where did you go to college?
What extracurricular activities were you involved in when you were a college student?
I wasn't in too many organized activities but I did enjoy the service day, which was when we went out into the community and raked leaves or painted. We would also read to young elementary school kids. I also enjoyed my cross cultural trip to the Dominican Republic and my May term trip to Europe.
Where would you like to travel to?
I'd love to visit anywhere, I really enjoy travelling; maybe New Zealand or Australia.
What's on your "Bucket List"?
I'd really love to take ceramic classes and become very good at it. I'd invest my time into it and work through the bumps and make a bowl that is more than an inch high!
