Community Psychology is an applied discipline that focuses on the way society impacts individual, group and community functioning. A focus of Community Psychology is intervention – the researchers are trained to perform community research and then determine the most effective ways to intervene, using qualitative and quantitative techniques. Community psychologists work at addressing many important social issues, including community development, poverty, diversity, violence and substance abuse, among others. They work with a number of different groups, including social groups, churches, clubs, schools, families and neighborhoods.
