Chorale and Jazz Concert

University Chorale, Jazz Ensemble to perform

Bluffton University’s Jazz Ensemble and University Chorale will present a concert at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, in Yoder Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public; an offering will be taken during intermission for music scholarships.

Dr. Adam Schattschneider, professor of music, will direct the Jazz Ensemble, whose seven numbers will include arrangements of “Over the Rainbow,” “Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” the Gershwin brothers’ “Strike Up the Band,” “Jumpin’ at the Woodside” by Count Basie and Dizzy Gillespie’s “A Night in Tunisia.”

The University Chorale will have an international flavor, including folk songs from Samoa (“Minoi, Minoi”) and Latvia (“Kas Tie Tadi”); an Israeli desert song, “Erev Shel Shoshanim”; and “Ngana,” from Australia. The spiritual “My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord” is also on the program, conducted by Dr. Mark J. Suderman, professor of music, and accompanied by Ana Yoder, adjunct instructor of music.
