What is your favorite thing about being a teacher?
I value the relationships that I develop with my students. Some students remain life-long friends and become colleagues in the professional world.

What age were you when you first discovered that you wanted to be a teacher?
I never saw myself becoming a teacher when I was younger; I guess it was just something I always did. I've taught piano lessons since I was in high school and have just always loved music. I love being around people and wanted to share music through helping others enjoy and perhaps participate in music-making.

What is your favorite subject to teach, and why?Lucia Unrau
At Bluffton University one of my favorite classes to teach is First-Year Seminar. It's important for me to get out of Mosiman Hall and get to know students other than music students and FYS accomplishes this.

Where is your favorite place/ season on Bluffton's campus?
This is a tough question. Every season has its beauty at Bluffton. My favorite place is probably Marbeck Center at lunch time...it's bustling and full of energy.

Who were your favorite teachers in high school and middle school?
My favorite high school teachers were Mr. Toews, my band director; Mr. Dick, my accounting teacher; and Mr. Linscheid, my history teacher. They were all very supportive and expected students to give their best effort in every class. They appreciated hard work.

What do you do in your free time?
I love to do crosswords, read, watch my favorite TV shows/movies and I am a runner.

What was the first job you ever had?
My first "real" job was as a waitress at a local restaurant called the Red Coach Restaurant.

What kinds of activities did you participate in when you attended college?
I was a music nerd and was in the practice room for about six hours a day, then I'd go to class and study. After the conservatory would close we'd usually head to someone's dorm room to hang out or go to the student union.

Where is somewhere that you would like to visit?
Greece. My husband has promised me that we will go there.

Someday I would like to...
Travel internationally. Plus I have a long list of piano music I'd like to learn, and I'd like to run a full marathon (I've run several half-marathons).
