Facilities

The Music Department is pleased to announce that during the 2005-2006 school year Bluffton has been designated an All-Steinway Institution.  All-Steinway Schools demonstrate a commitment to excellence by providing their students and faculties with the best equipment possible for the study of music. That is why the only pianos owned by Bluffton — from the practice room to the recital hall — are designed by Steinway & Sons.

Mosiman Hall, home of Bluffton University's Music Department, was expanded in 1996 to include the beautiful new Yoder Recital Hall, a 300-seat, state-of-the-art performance facility.  In addition, two harpsichords and a Baroque style pipe organ are located in Yoder Recital Hall, and offer various opportunities for keyboardists.

Inside Yoder Recital Hall

Mosiman Hall contains three classrooms, a rehearsal/lecture hall and faculty teaching studios. The music library/listening center includes a collection of performance scores and provides facilities for as many as 15 students to use the department's collection of CDs, tapes and LPs. Mosiman Hall also houses the new Advanced Media Studio which includes a complete state-of-the-art piano lab (Roland keyboards and visualizer), computers, CD and DVD burners, video and audio editing software, visual projection, and a stereo sound system.  A sophisticated collection of music software such as Finale, Sibelius, Visual Music Tutor, Sonar 3, Project 5, MacGamut, a variety of softsynths, and Media Tools is available.
