New Case Study FormatCORE – Community, Opportunity, Renewal & Education: Get all four by participation in the conference case study program! This program is designed to be a central education component of the conference. Undergraduate and graduate student conference goers will participate in an exciting new rendition of the traditional case study: Point – Counterpoint style! All students who register for the conference will be assigned to various case study groups, each with a seasoned student union veteran serving as their advisor. Topics will give students an opportunity to explore and develop in greater depth the ACUI Core Competencies. Each case study group will have two teams; the teams will meet informally on Friday night, and will have designated time during an extended education session on Saturday to research and deliberate their subject; they will then debate two sides of the same topic in their presentation to the conference delegation on Sunday morning. Judges will provide feedback, but this is not a competition; all participants get a free t-shirt! Sunday Keynote SpeakersElizabeth Beltramini is ACUI’s director of communications, managing Association publications and coordinating marketing efforts. Before coming to ACUI, she worked for Ladies’ Home Journal and a corporate communications firm. Beltramini received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Indiana University in 2002 and now serves the university as a member of the Student Media Board and adjunct instructor of magazine journalism. Beltramini also advises the local chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi. Justin Rudisille has been an ACUI educational program coordinator since June 2008. Rudisille earned his bachelor’s degrees in adolescent education and mathematics from The University of Toledo in 2006 and his master’s degree in college student personnel from Bowling Green State University in 2008. His professional interests include the impact of campus involvement on student development, learning outcomes assessment, free speech on campus, engaging college men, and the influence of pop culture and media on college students. EntertainmentLet us entertain you at this year’s regional conference. This year’s entertainment committee is committed to providing you with great events that showcase the small college way of doing things. We have included descriptions of this year’s entertainment line up and are excited to shake things up a bit. Our Friday evening keynote will be presented by our own Regional Leadership Team (RLT) as they help us explore the meaning of CORE and how it can be applied to our daily work in the Union. The RLT will lead the delegation in an interactive activity about community, opportunity, renewal, and education as well as a look at the ACUI CORE Competencies and how they can be utilized at the conference and beyond. Swap shop combines with the Friday night entertainment to bring us Swap Shop Extravaganza. This carnival themed event will spotlight roving performances by our entertainers. Institutions and vendors will have interactive table displays that both show off their talents and get people involved in the carnival fun. You do not want to miss this Region 7 first. Questions about how your institution can get involved in this exciting event, contact Ann Day at aday@kent.edu. Then, as if all that fun wasn’t enough, join us on Saturday night for an evening of rockstars. That’s right; Region 7 takes the stage at Live Band Karaoke for a night of on and off key singing and lots of fun. Not the singing type? Experience the games that Bluffton students love including Dutch Blitz and Carpetball. So come one, come all to this year’s Regional Conference...we look forward to seeing YOU there! Attire |
