ABOUT REFWORKS

  • RefWorks is software that permits users to create a personal database of references from search results in online databases.
  • References can be used in writing papers. In-text citations and bibliographies can be quickly formatted in a citation style of your choosing (e.g. MLA or APA).
  • References can be organized into folders according to your topics of interest, or for particular assignments and projects.
  • References can be imported from: research databases (e.g. Academic Search Complete), Google Scholar, saved text files, and other bibliographic management programs (e.g. Endnote). You can also add new references manually.
  • RefWorks is available to Bluffton students, faculty and staff.

    • There are several things you can do to help you get started with RefWorks:
  • From off-campus
    • Follow the same procedures as from on campus, but when you begin the procedure, you will be prompted to login with your last name and your library card number. After that, just continue with the procedures as detailed above.

WRITE-N-CITE

  • Write-N-Cite is a utility that allows users to run an abbreviated version of RefWorks in their word processor. With Write-N-Cite, you can cite references in a manuscript with the click of a button. The abbreviated version can be set to Always on top so that it stays in place as you are typing your manuscript and generating your bibliography. To get started with this tool, visit the RefWorks help page for using Write-N-Cite.

REFWORKS HELP

Help with using RefWorks can come from several different sources, including the online resources that RefWorks provides, useful pages from other institutions that use RefWorks, and from contacting Bluffton librarians.
