Musselman Library is pleased to announce that e-reserves have been offered since the beginning of this semester. Students have been accessing many course reserves electronically through the Bluffton Library catalog – including documents for Christian Values in the Global Community, and for classes in psychology, biology, social work, education and theatre. With e-reserves, students no longer need to wait for another student to finish a reading. They also no longer need to worry about paying a fine for an overdue reserve article, and access to e-reserves is not limited to when the library is open! For any Bluffton student, e-reserves have much to offer in making access to supplemental course materials easier.

This service is also helpful for instructors who have the opportunity to place various documents in the same location online. E-Reserves can be used for journal articles, book chapters, syllabi, example tests and other text documents, as well as music from our music databases and even image files.
Information and an online request form for e-reserves is located under “Links for Faculty,” the “Reserves and E-reserves” link at the library website. The library follows the fair use provisions of the United States Copyright Act of 1976 (Section 107), and any determination for electronic reserves will result from weighing each of the four fair use factors. The contact for e-reserves is Bethany Woolf, Access Services Coordinator at the Musselman Library (x3365 or woolfb@bluffton.edu). —Bethany Woolf
